Mac’s Gives Back
Fishing on the Outer Cape when we were kids taught us a lot about how everything is connected. Now that we’re raising our own families here, we’re even more aware of the importance of connection—to the environment and to the community.
That's why we’re happy to get behind gatherings from spaghetti suppers to agricultural fairs and to support local groups who are doing great things like promoting community-based health care and protecting estuaries.
Mac’s Gift Cards
Each year, Mac’s gives back to over 40 community organizations. We are especially proud to be a part of these projects that we believe make a real difference here:
Chef-to-School at Wellfleet Elementary School
Children need good food to be healthy and ready to learn. So we’re raising our hands for school lunches made with fresh local ingredients. When we first showed up with haddock, lots of kids told us they had never eaten fish before. Now they’re eager to help make (and eat) things like fresh fish tacos and schoolyard-grown green salads.
The Wellfleet OysterFest
A celebration that gives a serious boost to our community. Proceeds fund scholarships and grants for people pursuing careers and creative projects in shellfishing—it's about preserving an important way of life here. We helped found SPAT, the nonprofit that organizes the festival, back in 2001. Join us as we give it our all again this year.
Groundhog Day Dinner
With help from dozens of Cape fishermen, farmers, and food artisans: a winter dinner to show off the growing power of our local food movement. This time, we honored the Cape & Islands’ public radio station, WCAI, for its food and farm reporting and Wellfleet Preservation Hall––one of the best community gathering places anywhere.
I'm a fan of Mac's takeout on the Town Pier. The best view of any clam shack I know."
