Introducing our Small Batch Label - a new way to try a little taste of Mac’s

If you walk into any of Mac's Seafood Markets this summer, you'll notice some pre-packaged goodies with snazzy bright labels. That's our new Small Batch line of Mac's fine foods. Those little containers are filled with delicious, house-made greatness that you can grab on the way home from the beach and enjoy with friends & family.

You'll still find favorites like our Smoked Bluefish PateSmoked Salmon Pate and Cocktail Sauce, but stop in often to see what each market kitchen is turning out daily, like Lemon Aioli in Truro & Tomato Pesto at the Pier.

We're also sharing very special small batches made from old family recipes like Humpa's Bread & Butter Pickles, a keeper handed down from our grandfather. Eat these pickles and you'll crave them forever! Grab a tub at Mac's Seafood Markets or if you're not in town, try making them at home. These pickles are too good not to share.

Humpa's Bread & Butter Pickles - Mac’s Small Batch Label

You can boil the pickles longer if you prefer them soft or less for a firmer bite.  Enjoy!

4 qts (about 16) pickling cucs very thinly sliced
6 onions, very thinly sliced
1 red pepper, ¼ inch dice
1/3 cup pickling salt
½ gallon (two trays) of ice cubes
5 cups granulated sugar
3 cups white vinegar
2 tablespoons celery seed
1  teaspoon turmeric
2 tablespoons mustard seed

Combine the cucumbers, onions, peppers, and salt in a large bowl. Mix well, then crack the ice cubes over top. Let sit for 3 hours, then drain.

Combine the sugar, vinegar, celery seed, turmeric, and mustard seed in a large, non-reactive pot. Add the cucumbers and bring just to a boil (or longer for more a softer pickle.) Spoon into sterile jars and seal or cool to below 41 degrees in less than ½ hour.

Mac's Seafood Markets are located in Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro & Provincetown
